First County U21 Championship Winners
Newtownshandrum won the Co.U21 hurling championship in 1973, defeating Glen Rovers by 2-09 to 1-07 in Buttevant. The game produced a very enjoyable brand of fast and sporting hurling and saw Newtown capture the inaugural County U21 hurling title. The Dick Barrett trophy was presented to team captain Simon Morrissey.

The 1973 team will be one of the teams honoured at the GAA Anniversary Dinner in Charleville Park Hotel on Saturday November 1st.
Tickets on sale tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday from 7:30pm - 8pm in the GAA hall.
