Munster GAA has launched a new and exciting initiative “The Club Development Programme”. This programme has been developed over the past year by the Provincial Council’s Games Development staff in consultation with several stakeholders.

This initiative is aligned with the existing club and county planning resources available within the association. It recognises the pivotal role the club plays in all aspects of the GAA and is designed to assist and support clubs in developing a structure which empowers volunteers, delivers appropriate coaching inputs, and enhances the club structure to cater adequately for all members. It will engage with both the adult and juvenile sections.

Newtownshandrum GAA is delighted to have been selected along with Glanworth GAA as the only Avondhu clubs to take part in this pilot programme in association with the Munster Council.

The programme is designed to assist clubs in planning across all key strands of the club.

These include:

  1. Coaching & Games Development,
  2. Recruitment & Retention of Volunteers,
  3. Finance and Fundraising,
  4. Organisational Structures and Governance,
  5. Communications and Public Relations
  6. Health and Wellbeing

The programme kicked off with an introductory Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, February 10th.

GDA's Colm Crowley & Pat Spratt presented the webinar and as part of that set-up four groups covering areas

  • Nursery(U7 - U12)
  • Youth (U13 - Minor)
  • Adult
  • Administration

Those four groups will meet over the coming weeks before meeting the Munster Council and the GDAs in about a month’s time.

If you would like to be part of the aforementioned groups please contact any Club Officer from the Juvenile or Adult Club.

Key Questions:

  • What are we presently doing well in our Club?
  • What is not going well at the moment?
  • What is the Club not doing but should look to doing? i.e (Potential improvements that can be made)

“They will then conduct a review based on what we come up with and assist us in structuring that plan."

Whilst this is a very challenging time for members of our community, we will return to the field of play before long. This too will pass....

It is a massive opportunity for each and everyone in our community to have your say on the future of the club. This includes everyone from Club Members, Players, Parents, Coaches & Club Officers to contribute.

If you would like to share your views, please make contact with a Club Officer from the Juvenile or Adult Club. They would only be too delighted to hear from you.
